History:
This conference is the evolution of the experiences of many of the organizers. Gabriel Shirley and BigMindMedia began almost two years ago with the question "How do we create online environments that open space?" A series of experiments and collaborations later, we have discovered that many OS and Online facilitators are indeed very interested in the question, as are distributed teams and work groups in the for profit, NGO and government sectors. Many online facilitators (such as Nancy White, Toni Petrinovich, and Barbara Weaver Smith) and Open Space facilitators (such as Jay Vogt and the OSI-US Board) believe it is time to engage the power and potential of online Open Space. We believe it is time to raise the bar, to move at a larger scale from theory to practice, to engage the questions we have thought of and those that will naturally arise. In the spirit of Open Space, we invite all who wish to join us in this inquiry.
